King Mohammed VI of Morocco Dismisses Four Ministers and 15 Senior Officials

 

The King of Morocco, Mohammed VI, has revoked the mandate to 15 Ministers and senior representatives of the institutions. According to a Royal Palace release, the decision was taken after a meeting with the President of the Court of Auditors, Driss Jettou.

 The Court found several malfunctions in the previous Government, led by Allan Benkirane, and revealed that many ministerial and Government sectors have not honored their commitments in the implementation of the projects. Moreover, the explanations provided do not justify the delay in the execution of this development program. The report states that cases of misappropriation or embezzlement did not take place but considering the importance of the program and the partners, it is necessary that the Government and Ministerial Commission take the direct control, under initiative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in particular during the start-up phase.

 

Therefore the King dismissed: Mohamed Hassad (former Minister of Professional Training, Speriore Education and Research); Mohamed Nabil Benabdellah (former Minister of Housing, Urban Planning and Urban Policy); El Houcine Louardi (former Secretary of State and Minister of Health) and Bencheikh Larbi, former General Director of the Office of Training and Employment Promotion. The King decided to remove Ali Fassi Fihri as well, who was General Director of the National Office of Electricity and Drinkable Water.

A King’s spokesman also noted the discontent of the Sovereign, who decided to ban from future government positions five managers and fourteen senior public administration officers of the former government. On the same occasion, the King instructed the head of Government, Saad Eddine Al Otmani, to submit proposals for the appointment of new Government members.

Mohammed VI, while welcoming the efforts made by the present Government and waiting to speed up the implementation of the planned projects, gave guidelines in order to learn the lessons from the difficulties that met the program “Manarat Al Moutawassit”, in order to avoid malfunctions which could hinder its realization in the various regions of the Kingdom.
