Judo-African Cup: Twelve Medals for Algeria, Including Four Gold

The Algerian selection (boys / girls) of judo won twelve medals (4 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze), in the African Cup of cadets, disputed Thursday in Tunis, reports the official site of the Algerian Judo Federation (FAJ ). 

The four gold medals were won by Lydia Kechout (-70 kg), Hezil Oussama (-60 kg), Adel Boussahel (-55 kg) and Sami Bouyakoub (-90 kg). The silver medals were the work of Racha Riham Aïdoun (-40 kg), Lyna Benfedda (+70 kg), Ensaâd Nasreddine (-66 kg), Yousi Réda (-73 kg) and Saf Adem ( -81 kg), while the bronze medals were gleaned by Khaldi Samia (-52 kg), Ghazali Nourhane (-57 kg) and Lazri Zakaria (+90 kg). In addition to the twelve judokas raised, Algeria has entered fourteen other judokas in this competition, which precedes the African Junior Cup (March 10) and the African Open in Tunis (March 11-12). 

He s’agit d’Abdeldjabbar Rouibet (-50 kg), Degouah Mohamed Amine (-50 kg), Medjahed Abderrahim (-50 kg), Medjtouh Nabil (-50 kg), Hezil Aymen Abdelkarim (-55 kg), Laïd Badreddine (-55 kg), Bouziane Mancef (-55 kg), Hezil Oussama Abdelhak (-60 kg), Hadj-Moussa Ryadh (-60 kg) and Abdallah Bouacida (-66 kg). Chez les filles, la Direction technique nationale (DTN) a retenu Melaba Marissa (-44 kg), Laïmèche Nedjma (-48 kg), Mekhelef Manel (-48 kg), Brahimi Hanane (-52 kg) et Arras Hadjer (-63 kg). 

A total of 66 judokas (40 boys and 26 girls) representing 15 countries participated in this 2023 African Cadet Cup. With its 26 judokas involved, Algeria was by far the best represented nation. For example, Tunisia, the host country of the event, has entered only four athletes: 1 boy and 3 girls. 

The Algerian selection was supervised in Tunisia by coaches Asma Belaïdouche and Ratiba Tariket for girls, as well as Abderrahmane Benamadi and Djamil Bounab for boys. The Director of Young Sports Talents, Zoubida Bouyakoub, was also present at this tournament.
