The first tranche of the concessional loan for the Social Protection Strengthening Support Project in the amount of 10.4 billion yen, or approximately 233 million Tunisian dinars, was made available to the Tunisian government on 9 June 2023.

Entitled “Amen Social”, the project aims to consolidate the implementation of the social protection program in Tunisia. It is thus a concrete way to improve the living conditions of needy families with limited incomes and to promote social stability in Tunisia.

This disbursement is part of a loan totaling 12 billion yen. Amen Social was announced by KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, to Kaïs Saïed, President of the Republic of Tunisia, on the occasion of TICAD 8 held in August 2022, and signed between the two governments in January 2023 in Tunis.
