Israel to help Morocco close its water deficit

Morocco could take advantage of Israeli expertise in water management to better ensure the availability of blue gold in all its regions.

The figures are alarming in Morocco regarding the availability of this precious resource. According to a report from the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE), the kingdom currently has nearly 650 m³ / inhabitant / year, against 2,500 m³ in 1960. These resources should stand at nearly 500 m³ on the horizon. from 2030.

The formalization of relations between Morocco and the Hebrew State should allow the country to access all Israeli innovation patents, in various fields, namely telecoms, aerospace technologies or for civil use, connected objects, cybersecurity, medical innovations and many others, said Minister of Industry Moulay Hafid El Alamy.

During the meeting with the US-Israel delegation, a memorandum of understanding on innovation and development of water resources was signed on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 between the two countries. It provides for technical cooperation in water management and planning.
