The first maritime passenger service between Mostaganem (Algeria) and Barcelona (Spain) was inaugurated on Monday.
The crossing on board the ship “Tassili 2” carrying 58 passengers and 28 vehicles was given to the port of Mostaganem by the Wali Adelwahid Temmar in the presence of local authorities.
Latreche Benaoumeur Abdessamed, the Western Regional Director of the National Passenger Transport Enterprise (ENTMV), has indicated that a total of 32 round-trip flights will be scheduled for the months of June, July, August and September Of eight round-trip flights per month.
He underlined that the opening of the passenger transport line Mostaganem-Barcelona is part of the plan to extend the activity of the ENTMV, pointing out that the company reserved for this line the ships “Tassili 2” and “Djazair 2”.
He added that after the summer season, a round trip service every 15 days will be scheduled during the winter season.
Prices of 18,500 DA round trip in economic place and 28,000 DA in cabin are fixed for this service and 33,000 DA for the vehicle.
A regular maritime route will be scheduled during the summer season between Mostaganem and Alicante (Spain), with a total of 32 round-trip flights in June, July, August and September, with an average of 8 round trip flights each month, Regional Director West Of the ENTMV.
Concerning the opening of the new maritime line linking Mostaganem (Algeria) and Marseille (France), the same official said that the dossier is under consideration and will be put into service next year in parallel with the Receiving a new vessel with a capacity of more than 2,000 passengers and more than 600 vehicles.

The Wali of Mostaganem, Abdelwahid Temmar pointed out that the Motaganem-Barcelona maritime line complements the Mostaganem-Valencia line, which came into operation in March 2016.
He added that this new line will give an economic boost to Mostaganem and the western part of the country and attract more tourists.
