Acts of vandalism were recorded on Saturday, May 4 in Algiers, causing significant material damage to the Algiers tramway and the temporary interruption of service between El Annasser and Mandarines stations.

These acts of vandalism took place after the two Ligue 2 matches between RC Kouba and NA Hussein Dey and USM El Harrach and CA Batna, according to  Ennahar Online.

In a press release, the Tramway Operating Company (Setram) denounced these acts of vandalism. The company published photos of the damage caused to tram-trains and stations.

“Setram apologizes for the temporary interruption of the tram service in Algiers, between the stations of the El Annasser district and the Mandarins district, due to acts of vandalism that occurred today, May 4, from 4 p.m.”, she clarified.

And added: “Individuals posing as supporters threw stones at the trains and the tram station, causing significant material damage, including the near destruction of the station and considerable damage to windows and doors oars, as shown in the photos. »

“It is important to remember that vandalism of public property causes damage to the quality of service, in particular the reduction in the number of trains and the increase in waiting times at stations,” lamented Setram, who stressed that “ the perpetrators of these acts of vandalism are exposed to legal proceedings. »

Setram calls “for the cooperation of all to protect the tramway, which represents a public good beneficial to all, and its protection is everyone’s responsibility,” the press release concluded.
