Flights France – Algeria: The Video That Scandalizes Social Networks

The freezing of the new Air Algérie program, which was scheduled to start on March 15, has obviously disappointed more than one, particularly foreigners from abroad.

Ticket prices to Algeria remain at exorbitant levels putting many Algerians in deep distress. Thus, since the partial reopening of the borders last June, plane tickets have never been so expensive, whether with Air Algérie or foreign companies.

Departing from France, precisely, the demand is strong and the supply does not follow. With only around fifty flights per week compared to 300 before the health crisis, the scarcity of tickets explains their indecent price. As a result, the few tickets available are selling at breakneck speed. For example, it is currently necessary to count at least 500 euros for a one-way ticket, without luggage in the hold.

Why do planes fly empty between France and Algeria

While this situation exasperates the majority of the Algerian community in France, a video is currently making the buzz on social networks. We see a Transavia plane leaving completely empty for Oran!

According to the hostess who filmed the video and who can be heard on the video, this is due to the Algerian authorities which prohibit certain companies which operate special flights (go from Algeria only), the boarding of travelers from Paris “so as not to compete with Air Algérie”.

In reality, the real explanation is a little different. Currently, Transavia, like Air France and ASL Airlines, operates two types of service with Algeria: commercial flights (round trip) as part of the partial reopening of the borders and special flights (one way from Algeria). Algeria, reserved for travelers with a compelling reason). This explains why the planes leave empty in the France – Algeria direction.

Empty Transavia plane: Algerian social networks outraged

But nothing justifies maintaining a low level of flights between France and Algeria. On Facebook, few people hold back their anger. Faced with the disarray of people stranded in France and who are just waiting for an increase in flights to be able to enter the country, seeing this plane come completely empty to Oran has made more than one angry.

“Scandalous”, “a shame”, are the adjectives that come up the most with Algerian speakers. Others quickly draw a parallel between this video and the high cost of flight tickets.

It should be noted, however, that some people believe that this is only a fair backlash for Transavia, which charges exaggerated prices on its flights between Algeria and France.
