The recently inaugurated FIAT plant in Tafraoui marks a new stage in its development by launching the production of the Fiat Doblo. This initiative follows closely on the heels of the start of production of the Fiat 500, thus strengthening Algeria’s position on the global automotive industry map.

The new, modern, and automated assembly line is aligned with the international quality standards of the Stellantis Group, guaranteeing vehicles at the cutting edge of technology and quality.

First successful delivery of Fiat Doblo made in Algeria

The high point of this start-up was reached with the delivery of the very first Fiat Doblo produced in Algeria to a satisfied customer. This delivery symbolizes the success of the Tafraoui plant and its ability to meet the expectations of the local market. Here are the photos of this milestone:

With a team of 850 employees, the factory is ramping up, currently producing 46 vehicles per day with the ambition of reaching 250 vehicles daily by the end of July.

This acceleration will be made possible by the addition of a third team, bringing the total workforce to 1,200 people, including teams specialized in bodywork and painting. This expansion demonstrates Stellantis’ commitment to creating jobs and transferring skills in the Algerian automotive sector.

So far, Stellantis has invested 130,000 hours of training for its teams in Tafraoui, covering essential areas such as:

Mounting ;

The quality ;

Logistic.

Of these hours, 34,000 were delivered overseas, emphasizing developing local skills and incorporating international best practices.

Ambitious goals for 2024

The Tafraoui plant aims to produce more than 40,000 vehicles in 2024, with a local integration rate of more than 10%.

By the end of July, the factory plans to produce 7,000 Fiat Doblos and 1,000 Fiat 500s, meeting growing demand from Algerian customers. This production capacity and these ambitious objectives reflect Stellantis’ desire to strengthen its presence in Algeria while contributing to the country’s economic development.

Raoui Beji, Chairman and CEO of FIAT El Djazaïr, underlines the importance of this new stage: “ This new stage is an important milestone in the ramp-up of the Tafraoui factory and a new sign of our desire to create added value through local integration and knowledge transfer.”

The FIAT Tafraoui plant, inaugurated on December 11, 2023, was built and put into operation in a record time of one year. This speed of execution demonstrates Stellantis’ commitment and ability to carry out large-scale projects in a limited time.

The factory plans to produce 90,000 vehicles in CKD (Completely Knocked Down) by 2026 with an integration rate of more than 35%, two years before the regulatory threshold of 30% planned for 2028.
