ALGIERS- Minister of Post and Information and Communication Technologies, Imane-Houda Feraoun, accompanied by Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Houlin Zhao on Monday visited the National Agency for the Promotion and Development of Technology Parks (ANPT) of Sidi Abdellah (Algiers).

On this occasion, Feraoun and Zhao have discussed and inquire about the projects of start-ups, in incubation or post-incubation at the Sidi Abdallah Cyber-Park.

These projects exploit the new Information and Communication technologies and cover several fields.

The minister and the ITU chief followed a presentation about a smart hive that allows beekeepers to track in real time what is happening inside the hive and eventually detect insects or parasites that can harm bees and hence affect honey production.

Another project has been presented and consists in smart sole, connected to GPS via a cell phone via Bluetooth which allows guiding by mechanical vibrations, people or the traveler.

Another project developed by a doctor who invented an “e-tabib” application to assist any doctor in the management of patient files but to avoid any errors in the prescription, as the e-tabib application is connected to a data bank where the marketed drugs are listed.

Feraoun and Zhao also received explanations from young inventors of e-learning platform that helps students.

At the end of the visit, ITU Secretary-General said that these projects are “excellent,” welcoming the role of the Sidi Abdallah Park which accompanies project developers.

“These are profitable innovations that can bring added value to the Algerian economy once they are operational,” Zhao added.

As for her, Feraoun affirmed that the Ministry supports those young people “by all the possible means.”
