Morocco will welcome the Spanish Minister of the Interior on November 20 for a working visit. Fernando Grande-Marlaska himself announced it in Las Palmas.

During a press briefing held jointly with the European Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ylva Johansson, and the Canarian President, Angel Torres, the Spanish Minister of the Interior outlined the subjects that will be on the menu of his working visit Flap.

“During this visit, I will hold a meeting with my Moroccan counterpart, Abdelouafi Laftit  ” to discuss several subjects, including the management of migratory flows, said Grande-Marlaska.

Recently, the Spanish minister visited Mauritania, Algeria, and Tunisia in turn to discuss cooperation on migration matters. During his trip to Morocco, this same concern will be raised, within the framework of cooperation with the countries of origin and transit.

Following a notable increase in the arrivals of clandestine migrants on the coasts of the archipelago, Grande-Marlaska and the European Commissioner went to the Canaries to deal with the same issue.

A total of 12,700 illegal immigrants have arrived in the Canaries since the start of the year on board 449 boats, said the president of the Canarian government, Angel Torres.
