Although the trade balance still tilts in favor of imports, exports continue on their upward trend. Moroccan sales show, in fact, a clear progression in the first half of the year. 215.07 billion dirhams of goods were shipped on the international market, marking an increase of 62.72 billion dirhams compared to the same period of the previous year, an increase of 41.2% year-on-year. In volume, these exports amounted to 14.30 million tonnes, down 2.5 million tonnes compared to the first half of the previous year. Referring to the latest data reported by the Foreign Exchange Office, the consolidation of the value of exports for the first six months concerns all sectors, in this case phosphates and derivatives, the automotive sector, agriculture and agri-food and textiles and leather. 62.88 billion dirhams captured by semi-finished products

Most exports are captured by semi-finished products. Sales established in this direction amount to 62.88 billion dirhams, up from 26.31 billion dirhams. Their volume stood at 6.023 million tonnes against 7.4 million tonnes a year earlier. In detail, Morocco exported 39.40 billion dirhams of natural and chemical fertilizers at the end of June, while its shipments were around 19.7 billion dirhams in the same period of the previous year. Phosphoric acid exports amounted to 12.32 billion dirhams, representing a volume of 732,146 tons. 24.92 billion dirhams of passenger cars shipped

With regard to finished consumer products, exports of the branch of activity reached 59.38 billion dirhams at the end of June, representing sales of around 560,532 tonnes. They therefore show an improvement of 16.65 billion dirhams. In volume, there is a consolidation of 95,700 tons. Passenger cars represent the bulk of these exports. In total, 230,592 units were sold for export in the first six months of the year for a value of 24.92 billion dirhams. Ready-made clothing comes in second place with sales of around 45,340 tonnes, thus generating an export figure of around 14.22 billion dirhams. The value of exports of parts and parts for cars and passenger vehicles recovered, for its part, by 1. 35 billion dirhams reaching 5.17 billion dirhams at the end of June. Sales of hosiery articles reached a value of 4.31 billion dirhams against 3.38 billion dirhams reached in the same period of the previous year.

Recovery in sales of food products in volume and value

With regard to the “food, beverages & tobacco” branch, exports for the first six months of the year show an improvement in both volume and value. In this sense, 2.62 million tonnes were shipped for a total amount of 41.44 billion dirhams against 2.24 million tonnes sold at the same period of the year for a value of 34.07 billion dirhams. The improvement observed at this level concerns all of the division’s products. Sales of around 7.17 billion dirhams of crustaceans, molluscs, and shellfish, 5.22 billion dirhams of fresh tomatoes, and 3.97 billion dirhams of fresh or dried fruit, frozen or in brine. Exports of strawberries and raspberries amount to 3.87 billion dirhams, or 131. 186 tonnes shipped on the international market at the end of June 2022. Exports of “prepared and preserved fish and shellfish” rose to 3.72 billion dirhams against 3.06 billion dirhams in the same period last year . To these sales are added 3.53 billion dirhams of fresh, frozen, or in brine vegetables, 3.36 billion dirhams of citrus fruits, 2.13 billion dirhams of raw or refined sugar, 1.93 billion dirhams of fresh salted, dried, or smoked fish, 1.84 billion dirhams of watermelons and melons as well as more than 1 billion dirhams of canned vegetables.

Exports of 34.29 billion dirhams of finished industrial equipment products

Finished industrial equipment products are the third contributor to the increase in Moroccan exports in the first half of the year. The branch achieved an export figure of 34.29 billion dirhams, in the consolidation of 6.5 billion dirhams year-on-year. In this regard, we note the export of 18.08 billion dirhams of wires, cables, and other insulated conductors for electricity (100,480 tons). Under the same heading, the Foreign Exchange Office lists 6.89 billion dirhams of aircraft parts and other air or space vehicles (1,400 tonnes) and 3.72 billion dirhams of sales of devices for cutting or connection of electrical circuits (8,787 tonnes).
