Depollution: A French Group Wants to Settle in Algeria

Europlasma wants to settle in Algeria. In a press release published on Tuesday, the French group specializing in pollution control said it was discussing with the private Algerian company NCC Environnement for “the creation of an asbestos and PCB vitrification unit in Algeria”.

The Algerian company based in Algiers specializes in the treatment, management, and recovery of waste, concerning the creation of an asbestos and PCB (polychlorinated biphenyls) vitrification unit, according to the same source.

The Algerian market presents “significant challenges given the stocks of asbestos and PCB waste, the treatment of which is a priority for the Algerian authorities”, indicates Europlasma, stressing however that “several obstacles” condition the feasibility of the project. He quotes “the firm commitment of the parties, the progress of discussions on governance and on the terms of execution of the contract and the obtaining of the usual administrative authorizations.”

“For the time being, no preliminary agreement has been signed,” said Europlasma, stressing that it “will communicate in good time in accordance with the applicable regulations.”
