Canada: Morocco bypasses the embargo to equip its Turkish drones

Following the order last month for 13 Turkish drones developed by Baykar Defense, the Kingdom has just signed a contract for their equipment.

Morocco has succeeded in circumventing the embargo imposed by Canada on Turkey. On April 12, the North American country announced the cancellation of 29 military export permits to Turkey. The embargo covered Wescam cameras used in Bayraktar TB2 drones. However, the Kingdom has just concluded an agreement with Canada for the equipment of Turkish drones developed by Baykar Defense with electro-optics Wescam.

Note that the order for Turkish drones, which will be delivered in 2022, aims to strengthen the surveillance and attack missions of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR). The Bayraktar TB2 are known for their deadly attacks in Iraq, Libya, and Syria.
