Considered as two of the favorites of this African Cup of Nations, Senegal and Morocco fought on Tuesday January 25 but qualified for the quarter-finals of the CAN.

The Moroccans will be at the quarter-finals of CAN 2022. The Atlas Lions validated their qualification against Malawi, at the Ahmadou-Ahidjo stadium in Yaoundé (2-1).

However, it was the Malawians who had opened the scoring to everyone’s amazement through a long shot from Mhango, but the Moroccans pushed to equalize before half-time by En-Nesyri.

The Moroccans will face the winner of the Côte d’Ivoire-Egypt meeting on January 30 (5 p.m.) in a match already announced as the clash of the quarter-finals.

In the other meeting in Bafoussam, in the West of Cameroon, Cape Verde bowed on the wire after accumulating pitfalls, in the round of 16 of the African Cup of Nations.

Facing Senegal, finalist of the last CAN, the Cape Verdean Blue Sharks lost (2-0) thanks to a goal from Liverpool player Sadio Mané.
In the quarter-finals, Senegal will find the winner of the duel between Mali and Equatorial Guinea, Sunday January 30 (8:30 p.m.).
