COVID-19 in Tunisia: 4 Deaths and 2,834 New Contaminations Recorded in 24 Hours

The balance sheet of people who have contracted Covid-19 is 856,739, until January 23, according to the epidemiological report of Tunisian Public Health

Tunisian Public Health reported on Tuesday that 2,834 new contaminations had been detected following 8,915 screening tests for Covid-19, in addition to 4 deaths and 4,854 recoveries recorded as of January 23.

The Tunisian health authorities indicated, in a press release made public and consulted by the Anadolu Agency, that 3,877,796 screening tests have, to date, been carried out since the appearance of the pandemic in Tunisia.

As a result, the toll of individuals who contracted the coronavirus reported 856,739 patients, of whom 25,999 lost their lives, while 724,864 recovered their health.

The Tunisian Ministry of Health also reported that the total number of patients currently treated in hospitals and private clinics in 793 patients, including 175 in intensive care, while 46 others are placed on respiratory assistance.

On January 12, the presidency of the Tunisian government decided, following the meeting of the Scientific Committee for the fight against the coronavirus, to ban all gatherings in public and private places, closed or open. A night curfew, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., has also been decreed for two weeks to curb the spread of the pandemic.

According to the latest data from the real-time global statistics platform Worldometer, the Covid-19 pandemic has affected more than 355,699,974 people worldwide, of whom 5,623,458 have died, while 282,334,656 have recovered.
