The Bank of Algeria has just created a new 2000 dinar note and a 200 dinar coin, according to two regulations published in the Official Journal No. 5 and signed by the Governor of the Bank of Algeria Fodil Rostom on December 7 .
The general characteristics of the two thousand (2000) Algerian dinar banknote are as follows: dimensions: 158 mm x 71.8 mm; theme: the Heroes of the Revolution; watermark: effigy of Emir Abdelkader and text “2000”; general tone: Purplish blue on the front with some brown and purplish on the back.
“The new note will circulate concurrently with the banknotes currently in circulation,” according to the Bank of Algeria. The current 2000 dinar note will therefore not be withdrawn.
“In vignette, the group of six: the six historical leaders of the glorious revolution of November 1, 1954”, according to the same source.
As for the new 200 dinar coin, it is “of the bimetallic type”.
“It consists of an outer crown in cupronickel, steel gray in color, and a bronze heart set inside this crown and in yellow color,” one explains.
The main motif of his Obverse is the “effigy of Ahmed Zabana inside the heart in the center of the coin”. And the main motif of its reverse is the stylized “numeral‘ 200 “, appearing all over the diameter of the heart, against a textural background. ”
According to the Bank of Algeria, the new 2000 dinar banknote and the new 200 dinar coin will be put into circulation from the date of promulgation in the official journal of the regulations bearing their creation, that is to say, from of this Wednesday, January 27, 2021.
