Artistic Gymnastics: Morocco Wins Six Medals at the African Championship

Moroccan gymnasts won six medals, including one gold, one silver and four bronze, at the African Artistic Gymnastics Championship for seniors and juniors, held July 7-11 in Egypt.

The Moroccan gold medal in this qualifying competition for the World Championship was the work of Abderrazzak Nasser who dominated the pommel horse event (seniors), thus qualifying for the World Championship scheduled for this year in Liverpool. His compatriot Zakaria Setti won the bronze medal in the same event.

In the Vault, Achraf Kistas won the silver medal, while Taha Kabouri won the bronze. Similarly, Abderrazak Nasser won the bronze medal in the Parallel Bars event.

The Moroccan women’s team (juniors), composed of Inas Laabouri, Chourouk El Annabi and Rihab Sebti, won the team bronze medal, behind Egypt and South Africa.

The African Artistic Gymnastics Championship for seniors and juniors saw the participation of 95 gymnasts from 8 countries, namely Morocco, Egypt, Algeria, Cameroon, Togo, South Africa, Senegal and Zimbabwe.
