The latter was entitled “complex economic and financial investigations: identification, seizure, and confiscation of criminal assets”. This seminar addressed the issue of ill-gotten gains. Ill-gotten gains were transferred particularly to France, Spain, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates. So far, about ten requests have already been processed. Recovery of ill-gotten gains: a long process
At present, 43 requests for letters rogatory for the recovery of ill-gotten gains that are in France have been submitted to the French courts. These cases involve former personalities whose identities we do not know. These cases are a year old. And so far, no property has been confiscated. As a reminder, Algeria and France are bound by a bilateral convention on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters.
Mutual assistance between the two countries will facilitate the exchange of information. And to obtain the seizure and freezing of these assets.
