The ordeal of Algerian students, which lasted several days, finally ended on Monday, January 18. They were finally able to board a special Air Algeria flight that took off from Casablanca airport on Monday for Algiers where it landed at the end of the afternoon.

On Tuesday, January 19, the Algerian embassy in Morocco wanted to provide some details about this affair, which caused a lot of ink to flow in Algeria and Morocco. In a statement made public, the Algerian embassy first denounced “the false and unfounded information reported by the local press”. He also pointed out that the Algerian consular services took the case of Algerian students seriously as soon as they learned of their presence in Morocco.

“On the instructions of the President of the Republic, all State services, including the Embassy of Algeria in Rabat and the Consulate General of Algeria in Casablanca, immediately mobilized and played fully their role, by providing aid and assistance for the benefit of these students throughout the duration of their transit at Casablanca airport ”, specified the Algerian Embassy in Rabat.

In addition, the same source added that Algeria dispatched a plane of the company Air Algeria to repatriate the Algerian students, without them paying any penny, contrary to what was reported by the Moroccan press. “A special plane from the company Air Algérie was mobilized by the Algerian state on January 18, 2021 to ensure the repatriation of these students to Algeria, free of charge, contrary to the information falsely reported”, we read in the same communicated.
