DP World Group’s CEO has met with Algeria’s transport minister to discuss plans to develop DP World Algiers in the run up to the nation joining the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
The Dubai-headquartered operator operates two ports in the country, DP World Djazair and DP World Djen-Djen.
DP World in 2008 was awarded the 30-year concession to operate the container terminal in the Port of Algiers, DP World Djazair as a joint venture between DP World and the Algiers Port Authority (EPAL).
The company also operates DP World Djen-Djen to the east of Algiers.
DP World has been building a digital Port Community System (PCS) and training local staff at its Algerian locations, and now it is looking to increase capacity and efficiency.
DP World CEO, Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem and Bin Sulayem, has met with the new Algerian Minister of Public Works and Transport Abdelghani Zalène to discuss plans for upgrades.

“Algeria is rich in resources and people and improved trade infrastructure, transparency and technology coupled with policies that encourage inclusive growth will help unlock its economic potential.”
