Algeria-Indonesia: Abolition of Visas for Holders of Diplomatic Passports

On Wednesday, the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, received the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno Marsudi. At the end of this meeting, the latter affirmed that political relations between the two countries are already solid and that there is talk of strengthening bilateral economic, commercial, and energy cooperation.

Furthermore, on the same occasion, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, recalled the common historical heritage of bilateral relations. This is for the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Algeria and Indonesia.

Signing of agreement for the abolition of visas for holders of diplomatic passports

In a statement to the press, Ahmed Attaf said that Algeria is willing to breathe new life into these relations, particularly in their economic, political, and social dimensions. Moreover, the meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs with his Indonesian counterpart allowed the signing of two legal agreements relating to diplomatic cooperation.

These two agreements concern the abolition of the visa obligation for citizens of the two countries and holders of diplomatic and service passports. But also, on cooperation in the field of energy and mines. “The two parties also agreed on concrete measures aimed at energizing and intensifying relations between Algeria and Indonesia. In particular the activation of bilateral cooperation mechanisms, through the scheduling of the second session of the Algerian-Indonesian joint commission and the fourth session of the consultation commission policies”, specified the minister.

For her part, the Indonesian minister congratulated herself on the relationship between the two countries and assured her that Algeria and Indonesia will continue to work for their promotion in areas of common interest of these two parties.
