Lamamra: Algeria Has Completed the Delimitation of Its Borders with the “Sadr”

At the time when Algeria announces that it wants to “review” its relations with Morocco, the head of Algerian diplomacy, Ramtane Lamamra affirmed the need to “scrupulously respect” the principle of intangibility of the borders inherited at independence.

During the work of the meeting of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union (AU), devoted to the evaluation of the implementation of the AU strategy for the integrated management of the borders between the Member States, the Algerian minister recalled the “constant and authentic” principle of respect for borders, reports  Radio Algeria.

According to him, “the rigorous application” of the principle would be the only guarantor of peace, security, and stability on the continent, a principle which would also be essential for the African continental free trade area. In this sense, the head of Algerian diplomacy wants the demarcation of the borders of member states to be accelerated “for the prevention of conflicts”.

Lamamra also expressed “Algeria’s readiness to share its long experience in securing border areas and border demarcation”. The opportunity for him to announce that “Algeria has completed the operation of delimiting its borders with all neighboring countries, including recently with the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR)”.

On Monday, July 12, Algerian government representatives met in Algiers with the Secretary-General of the Polisario’s “Ministry of Security and Documentation”, Sidi Ould Oukal, in order to continue discussions on the demarcation of the borders between the two parties. . Interviews initiated on June 14 and 15 in Tindouf, revealed the review El Djeich, in its edition of Saturday, July 10.
