ALGIERS- Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship of Argentina Susana Malcorra stressed Saturday in Algiers relations between Algeria and Argentina were “very important”, notably in the economic and political fields.

“Bilateral relations are very important in the economic and political fields because the multilateral approach of Algeria is similar to Argentina’s one,” said Malcorra after a meeting with Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ramtane Lamamra.

Malcorra stated she broached with her counterpart the deep problems faced by the world and conveyed Argentinian President Mouriciou Macri’s greetings to President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

For his part, Lamamra stated he exchanged views and analysis with his counterpart on the situation in Africa and Latin America, saying the Argentinian official conveyed President Marci’s greetings to President Bouteflika. Marci expressed his country’s willingness to develop and strengthen relations between the two countries.

The relations between the two countries are historical and focus on several fields, including science and technology, affirmed Lamamra.

“We are determined to open new prospects to our excellent relations,” said Lamamra.

Malcorra played a key role when she worked at the UN for many years, recalled Lamamra, who stressed he seized this opportunity to tackle several issues on the UN agenda following the beginning of the new UN Secretary General’s term.

There are many peace, security, cooperation, development and humanitarian challenges, notably decolonization questions and the consolidation of the unity of African and the Non-Aligned Countries, said Lamamra.
