Air Algérie continues its modernization. The national airline, which aims to conquer new international market shares, intends to set up a new service for its customers at Algiers airport.

After modifying its baggage allowance to bring it up to speed with other airlines and developing its application for online booking, Air Algérie intends to soon introduce a new service that will save time and facilitate the journey of its customers.

According to the specialist travel site  Lowcost, Air Algérie is “working” in partnership with the Algiers Airport Services and Infrastructure Management Company (SGSIA) to set up automatic check-in kiosks at Algiers International Airport.

Air Algérie wants to set up check-in terminals at Algiers airport

The communications director of Air Algérie Amine Andaloussi explained to the Travel Lowcost site that these terminals will “save time for travelers” and the “national airline”.

The other objective is to further modernize Algiers airport to raise it to the level of major European airports where certain companies have check-in terminals where passengers can check in their flights and baggage themselves.

The communications director of Air Algérie did not give a precise deadline for the completion of this project at Algiers airport, which the national airline is in the process of transforming into a transit hub between Africa, Europe, Asia, and America.

Today, a traveler can book their flight on Air Algérie from Douala to Montreal or another destination in Europe.

To make this airport, whose capacity is around 10 million passengers per year, a transit hub, Air Algérie has launched numerous routes to Africa and strengthened its services to Europe. In 2024, the national airline, which has just been authorized to resume flights to Madrid, plans to open 16 new international routes.
