King Mohammed VI arrived this afternoon in Miami. The king who is accompanied by Princess Lalla Salma, crown Prince Moulay Hassan and Princess Lalla Khadija arrived in Miami after a six-day stay in Cuba.
The news was announced by Emilio Gonzalez, director of Miami airport, who welcomed the Moroccan monarch and his family.

This will be King Mohammed VI’s first trip to the United States after Donald Trump was elected President of the United States. The Moroccan king was among the first heads of state to congratulate Trump following his victory in the elections last November.
While there is no information on whether King Mohammed VI will hold a private meeting with the American President, observers believe that the Kin’s stay in Miami this weekend may indicate that a meeting between both heads of state is in the offing.
Since he was sworn in as President of the United States, Trump has spent six weekends in his private estate in Mar-a-Lago in Florida.
The visit comes a couple of weeks before the Security Council is scheduled to vote a new resolution to extend the mandate of the United Nations Mission in the Western, known as MINUSO.
The United States is the penholder of the Security Council resolutions on the Western Sahara. Every year, it drafts the resolution in coordination with the other members of the Group of Friends of the Western Sahara, which includes France, the United Kingdom, Russia, Spain, in addition to the US.
Morocco needs the support of the United Nations in the Security Council for the adoption of a resolution that create a new dynamic in the UN-led political process and bring the conflict to an end through a mutually acceptable solution, in line with Un Security Council 1754 (2007).
