74% Increase in the Average Price of Olive Oil over the Last Quarter

Tunisia-Tribune (74% increase in the average price of olive oil) – The average export price of olive oil recorded during the period from November 2023 to January 2024, an increase of 74%, compared to the same quarter of the previous campaign, going from 14,880 D/ton to 25,854 D/ton, according to data published on Saturday by the National Oil Office (ONH).

Consequently, revenues from Tunisian olive oil exports increased to 1,590 million dinars (MD), compared to 940 million dinars (MD), from November 2022 to January 2023.

It should be noted, however, that the quantities of olive oil exported marked a decrease, going from 63,169 tonnes to 61,506 tonnes.

As for packaged olive oil, the quantities exported saw, during the last quarter, an increase of 9% compared to the same period of the previous campaign, thus reaching 6,397 tonnes and generating revenue of 177 million dinars.

During this campaign year, olive oil production should be between 210 and 220 thousand tonnes, compared to 217 thousand tonnes during the past season, according to the National Agricultural Observatory (ONAGRI).

In 2023, the value of Tunisian olive oil exports reached 3.8 billion dinars, compared to 2.5 billion dinars at the end of 2022.
