Tunisian-British Business Meetings in the Workwear and Lingerie Sectors

Tunisian-British business meetings in the workwear and lingerie sectors took place on Wednesday at the Maison de l’Exporteur in Tunis (CEPEX) and brought together seven representatives of major British firms interested in sourcing and investing in Tunisia and about the twenty Tunisian companies.

These meetings are part of a collaborative approach between CEPEX, the Tunisian Embassy in London, and PICAW (Professional association of the ready-to-wear industry in the world) ranging from the identification of promising niches on the British market up to prospecting, communication, and bringing operators from the two countries into contact, specifies the CEPEX on its Facebook page.

Yvette Ashby, president of PCIAW, who heads the British delegation, expressed her organization’s willingness to boost cooperation with Tunisia, which presents a reliable and competitive source for British contractors.

As a reminder, the textile-clothing sector is the second exporting sector in Tunisia and recorded evolution of 12.2% in 2021, with an export volume of 7.634 billion dinars. The two sectors of workwear and lingerie represent 30% of exports in the sector, according to CEPEX.

More generally, Tunisia has ranked among the top three suppliers of the European Union market in the field of work clothes and lingerie thanks to a combination of know-how and an ability to adapt to the new requirements of the European market. .

The United Kingdom is Tunisia’s seventh customer in the textile-clothing sector with an export volume of 230 million dinars (MDT) in 2021, recording an evolution of 58% compared to the year 2020.
