Tunisia Receives a Chinese Donation of 1.5 Million Doses of Anti-COVID Vaccine on Tuesday

Tunisia received, on Tuesday, a new batch of vaccines against Covid-19, in the form of a donation from the People’s Republic of China, Chinese Ambassador to Tunisia Zhang Jianguo said during his meeting. Monday, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, Othman Jerandi.

This donation, which includes 1.5 million doses of anti-coronavirus vaccine, is part of a support for Tunisia in the fight against the pandemic, reads a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Chinese ambassador indicated that Tunisia will also receive a batch of respiratory assistance and oxygen therapy devices which will be delivered soon.

Moreover, the Chinese diplomat praised the level of cooperation relations between the two countries, expressing his country’s desire to further strengthen them, particularly in areas of common interest.

For his part, Othman Jerandi praised the significant support provided by China in the fight against the pandemic and the financing of development projects such as the University Hospital of Sfax and the Diplomatic Academy.

Tunisia is working to encourage Chinese companies and investors to invest in Tunisia and import Tunisian products with a view to establishing a trade balance between the two countries and creating jobs, the minister stressed.
