Dozens of Tunisians took part in a demonstration on Sunday in front of the United States embassy in Tunis, to denounce “the American role” in the Israeli bombings on the Gaza Strip.

During the demonstration, organized at the call of the “Joint Action for Palestine” coordination, which brings together associations, organizations and parties, and the “Popular Current” (nationalist party), the protesters chanted slogans hostile to the American role such as “no to American bases on Arab lands” or “no to American interests on Tunisian territory”, noted the Anadolu correspondent.

The same source indicated that a strong police force was deployed near the American embassy.

On the sidelines of the demonstration, the spokesperson for the Popular Current, Mohsen Nabti, indicated that “this war is unprecedented”.

”The history of humanity has never known, during wars, atrocities like those committed by the Zionist entity. Bodies of children and patients are piled up in the streets, hospitals are stormed and schools are bombed,” he lamented.

Nabti estimated that “what is happening every day in Palestine is a test for humanity,” noting that “the Resistance and the Palestinian people are not only defending themselves but also defending the values of all humanity ”.

”The Israeli enemy, with the support of the United States, has inaugurated the era of post-humanism and post-savagery,” he insisted.

Nabti urged “the Tunisian people, all free peoples of the world, as well as the Arab regimes, to intervene to expel the American ambassadors or summon them, in protest against what is happening in Palestine.”

Many Tunisian cities, including the capital Tunis, are occasionally the scene of vigils and demonstrations in support of the Palestinian people, organized by political parties, institutions, and civil society organizations to denounce the continuation of Israeli raids on the Strip. from Gaza.

Israel has killed more than 12,300 Palestinians in its continued air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip since Hamas’ surprise offensive on October 7. The official Israeli death toll stands at around 1,200 people.

Thousands of buildings, including hospitals, mosques, and churches, have been damaged or destroyed during incessant Israeli strikes on the besieged enclave deprived of water, gas, and electricity.
