According to a statement from the Independent High Authority for Elections

Any advertising or propaganda used to influence voters, considered as political advertising, is prohibited during the period of the referendum scheduled for July 25th.

This is what emerges from a press release released on Saturday by the Independent High Authority for Elections (ISIE), according to the Tunis Afrique Presse Agency (TAP/official).

Any breach of this prohibition during the referendum period (from May 3 until July 25 when the voting centers close), will involve legal proceedings and criminal penalties against its author, in accordance with article 154 of the electoral law.

In the same context, the Election Authority recalled that the media will be prohibited from publishing, during the same period, the results of opinion polls or journalistic studies and comments, which relate directly or indirectly to the referendum. Political parties will also be prohibited from using call centers or a toll-free number, the statement added.

Penal sanctions, provided for by articles 152, 154, 156 of the electoral law, will be imposed on offenders of these decisions.

The Elections Authority had issued, last Wednesday, a decision relating to the calendar of the referendum of July 25, which started on May 3 and continues until August 28, date of proclamation of the final results of the referendum, lit- we from the same source.
