According to Le Figaro, which quotes Anne-Claire Legendre, the spokesperson for the Quai d’Orsay, Catherine Colonna and Nabil Ammar, respectively, heads of French and Tunisian diplomacy, will meet on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, in Paris, an “opportunity to mark France’s support for Tunisia”.

Moreover, the two heads of diplomacy would have already exchanged by telephone. But “it will be their first bilateral meeting”, reports the French newspaper.

“We will have the opportunity to mark and reaffirm our support for Tunisia and the Tunisian people,” she added. Then, “the two ministers will be able to have a close dialogue on the whole aspect of Franco-Tunisian cooperation, particularly the questions of education, culture as well as the thorny question of migration”.

Le Figaro recalls that the Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad had called “[…] the European Union to show solidarity with his country, particularly in the fight against illegal immigration”. And this when the head of the Tunisian diplomacy had received in Tunis the European Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ylva Johansson.
