Cumulative tourism receipts increased by 51% reaching 1.1 billion dinars (about 355 million USD) in mid-June 2022, according to recent data published by the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT).

After an 82.1% drop in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, tourist activity returned to growth in 2021 (+11.8%) under the effect of the easing of measures. Over the first 4 months of 2022, revenue was $244 million, up 35.2% year-on-year based on the bank’s average monthly exchange rates, and 48% in dinars (736 million dinars).

Receiving the supervisory minister on May 26, President Kaïes Saïed stressed the need to follow a “new approach” for Tunisian tourism, which does not reduce the tourist offer to the seaside offer, in order to make Tunisia a tourist destination of choice.
