In Tunisia, several donation collection campaigns have been organized for the benefit of the Palestinian people and in particular for the inhabitants of Gaza, which has been the target of incessant bombings since October 7.

The first phase of the national humanitarian and solidarity campaign in favor of the brotherly Palestinian people was completed on Sunday in the governorate of Bizerte (north), at the initiative of the Tunisian Red Crescent. This was reported by the Tunis Afrique Presse Agency (TAP/official).

The campaign made it possible to collect financial and in-kind aid, including food, blankets, medicine and electricity generators, for the benefit of the Palestinian Red Crescent and the Palestinian people.

The Secretary General of the Tunisian Red Crescent in Bizerte, Dorra Nafati, told TAP that around twenty trucks headed to the headquarters of the Tunisian Red Crescent in Tunis on Sunday, carrying around 20 tonnes of food products, 30 tonnes of medicine, 2 tonnes of mattresses and 5 tonnes of blankets, as well as 26 electricity generators and 500 units of paramedical equipment, including wheelchairs. The same source indicated that the campaign in the region lasted about a month, according to the Tunisian press agency.

On October 7, the Islamic resistance movement Hamas and other Palestinian factions launched Operation Al-Aqsa Flood from Gaza, in response to “relentless attacks by Israeli forces and settlers against the Palestinian people, their properties and its holy sites, in particular the Al-Aqsa Mosque in the occupied part of East Jerusalem.

For its part, the Israeli army launched Operation Iron Swords and continues to carry out intensive raids on many areas of the Gaza Strip, where more than two million Palestinians live who are suffering from the deterioration of their living conditions due to an Israeli blockade imposed since 2006.
