The Ministry of the Interior specified that 4 terrorists were arrested Tuesday at dawn in Jebel Boukornine, south of the capital.

Tunisian authorities announced Tuesday the arrest of five terrorists who escaped from Mornaguia prison, west of the capital, last Tuesday.

This is what emerges from a press release from the Tunisian Ministry of the Interior published on its official Facebook page.

On October 31, the Tunisian Interior Ministry announced that “five terrorists had escaped from Mornaguia prison”, west of the capital Tunis.

“Teams of the National Police and the National Guard, in collaboration with military units, captured ‘alive’ at dawn on Tuesday, four terrorized escapees from Mornaguia prison, while they were hiding at Mount Boukornine, south of the capital”, we read in the press release from the Ministry of the Interior.

The same source specified that two security agents were able to arrest, on Sunday, the fifth terrorist, Ahmed al-Maliki, (alias Al Somali) with the help of citizens of the Ettadhamen district, in the capital.

The fugitives are: Ahmed Al-Maliki, Omar Balâazi, Raed Touati, Alaeddine Ghazouani and Nader Ghanmi. They were arrested before President Kais Saied’s coup on July 25, 2021.

On Monday, the Tunisian Ennahdha movement called on the authorities to “enlighten public opinion” on the escape of the five terrorists.

Ennahdha spokesperson Imed Khemiri denounced the movement’s accusation of being involved in this affair.

“The five terrorists who escaped from Mornaguia prison were not arrested after July 25 (the date of the exceptional measures adopted by Kais Saied). On the contrary, they were arrested at a time when the Ennahda movement led or participated in the government,” Khemiri said.

On November 1, Tunisian President Kaïs Saïed denounced complicity in the escape of five “terrorists” from Mornaguia prison, west of the capital Tunis, pointing out “failings” and evoking “Zionist movements”.
