The Ministry of the Interior announces, this Tuesday, December 27, having apprehended a baggage handler at Tunis-Carthage airport for theft of objects and personal effects of passengers.

Relating the facts in a press release, the ministry indicates that “following a complaint presented by a passenger, to the parquet floor of the court of the first instance of Tunis, for having been the victim of theft, (jewelry, sunglasses, mobile phone charger, men’s shoes worth 14,000 dinars), as he was leaving Tunis-Carthage airport recently, the judicial investigation department of the border police of the said airport arrived, after investigations, to recognize the agent who unloaded the baggage of the flight in question.

It turned out he was fired after a recording reached the baggage handling company at the airport showing him opening passengers’ suitcases.

On the order of the public prosecutor’s office, the person in question was arrested and placed in pre-trial detention within a short period of time. With the deepening of the investigations, stolen objects were found at his home (06 perfume bottles, 02 sunglasses, 09 mobile phone chargers, and a sum of 2000 dinars), the ministry said.

A jeweler was also found to be related to the person in question, he admitted having bought fake jewelry, and gold, including the objects stolen from the passenger, the subject of the investigation.

Consulted, the public prosecutor’s office ordered the detention of the person in question and his relative and the appearance of three company officials in a state of freedom, given that they limited themselves to dismissing the employee concerned, without warning. the security authorities of the theft he committed, concludes the same source.
