According to the Association of Tunisian Doctors in the World (AMTM), 70% of Tunisian doctors have left their country because of poor working conditions.
Kaรฏsser Sassi, spokesman for the AMTM, declared during a press conference that half of these doctors had been victims of professional harassment.
A study of 393 Tunisian emigrant doctors also revealed that the rest would be willing to return to Tunisia if wages improved.
According to the National Institute of Statistics (INS), more than 3,300 health professionals have left the country in the past five years.
In this context, the AMTM therefore called on the government to urgently launch a national dialogue to improve working conditions in public hospitals and put an end to this brain drain.
The association proposes three axes for this national dialogue: guaranteeing good working conditions, fighting against the aggression of doctors and revising the salary grid.
