Algeria’s actions in favor of peace and security throughout the world have been welcomed by the member countries of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM). The latter, who took part in Baku in the work of the ministerial meeting under the chairmanship of Azerbaijan, highlighted Algeria’s commitment to a world where peace and security reign.

This initiative comes on top of what Algeria has already accomplished for peace, security, stability and development both at regional and international level. In the outcome document of the NAM ministerial meeting, participants commended the efforts of President Tebboune in his capacity as coordinator of the African Union (AU) in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism, particularly in the context of the exacerbation of the terrorist risks that threaten African States.
Participants also highlighted the proposal made by Tebboune for the establishment of an African mechanism to respond to natural disasters and the creation of an African fund to deal with the effects of climate change.
The final document praised the decision of the President of the Republic to allocate an amount of one billion USD to the financing of development projects in several African States, through the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation for Solidarity and Development.
The same document also highlighted the centrality of the Agreement for Peace and Reconciliation in Mali, resulting from the Algiers process, and underlined the support of the NAM to the good offices of Algeria, as leader of international mediation in Mali and president of the Monitoring Committee for the implementation of the Agreement.
Regarding the Palestinian cause, the NAM meeting held in Baku expressed satisfaction with President Tebboune’s financial and political support for the Palestinian cause, which will help enable the Palestinian people to resist the occupation. Israeli. On the first day of the meeting, Ahmed Attaf reaffirmed Algeria’s attachment to the principles of the NAM.
He called on the international community, in particular the United Nations and its Security Council, to assume their moral and historical responsibility by allowing the Palestinian people to exercise their legitimate right to self-determination. “Given the MNA’s track record in terms of solidarity with oppressed and colonized peoples and support for just causes around the world, it is time to continue and intensify its support for Sahrawi and Palestinian causes, in the face of attempts at alienation, misinformation and manipulation,” Attaf told his peers.
The meeting in Baku moreover confirmed the constant position of the movement in favor of the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination in accordance with the principles of the Charter of the United Nations and the resolutions of international legality relating to decolonization.
