The International Monetary Fund (IMF) granted Morocco a breath of financial oxygen, materialized by a loan of 1.3 billion dollars.

Barely a month after the tragic earthquake that shook Morocco, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is committed to supporting the Kingdom with a loan amounting to 1.3 billion dollars and is thus preparing to breathe new vigor into the Sherifian nation.

This agreement aims to support “Morocco’s transition to a greener economy and will help strengthen its preparation and resilience in the face of natural disasters, particularly those linked to climate change,” said the IMF.

Morocco on the front line against the climate emergency

It was in a statement to MAP that the Director General of the IMF, Kristalina Georgieva, explained the contours of this financial loan. This agreement is intended to provide Morocco with long-term protection to combat the phenomena of climate change.

This funding extends over a period of eighteen months. It represents, above all, an investment in a future where resilience will be the watchword.

Beyond the climate emergency, an entire nation is preparing to face the challenges of the future. The Moroccan authorities, now supported by this financial loan from the IMF, are strengthening their structures to face natural torments.
