The French group Maped, specializing in the sale of school and office supplies, is in the process of setting up a production unit in the industrial zone of Fouchana, in the governorate of Ben Arous, south of Tunis.

The company aims to create 250 jobs within 3 years and 1,700 jobs within 10 years, with an investment of 500,000 euros, the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (Fipa) announced on Friday, March 9, 2024.

As part of monitoring the establishment of this new production unit, the Director General of Fipa, Jalel Tebib, received on Friday the technical director (Tunisia) and head of research and development (China) of the French group, Rahim Salhab.

Tebib highlighted the specificities of the business climate in Tunisia, which has helped several foreign companies in recent years to increase their investments in several sectors, notably the plastics industry, as well as the role of Fipa in terms of advice, guidance, and assistance.

Founded in 1947, Maped is a French family business that designs and manufactures school writing, coloring, and office products, fun activity kits, and portable food containers.

Present in 120 countries, the group has 17 subsidiaries. Employing 1,600 employees and having 3 integrated production sites (China, Mexico, and France), it posted a turnover of 161 million euros in 2021, of which 75% was exported.
