The President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune has carried out a partial movement of the heads of diplomatic and consular posts, announced this Tuesday, March 26, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad. The countries affected by this change have not been specified.

According to the same source, this movement affected 28 ambassadors, three consuls general, and three Algerian consuls abroad. The names of the diplomats concerned by this movement were not given, because the new appointees must first obtain the agreement of the host countries to confirm their designation. “These appointments will come into effect once the required protocol procedures have been completed,” the Foreign Ministry statement said.

Tebboune operates a diplomatic movement: several embassies concerned

The appointments of 28 ambassadors, three consuls general, and three consuls are part of the “revitalization of the diplomatic apparatus” of Algeria, explained the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He added that these changes aim to “optimize the performance of diplomatic action in the face of current issues and ensure optimal care for our national community abroad. »

These changes occur as Algerian diplomacy continues its all-out offensive to restore Algeria to its place on the regional and international scene.

They also come at a time when Algeria is facing numerous challenges in its immediate environment, with strong tensions with Morocco and diplomatic crises with Mali and Niger, and when the world is experiencing significant geopolitical upheavals due to wars in Ukraine and Gaza.
