Following the rupture of the Treaty of Friendship between Algeria and Spain, the government of Pedro Sánchez imposes a measure against goods transiting through its ports towards Algerian territory. TMT reports all the details on this subject this Saturday, July 23, 2022.

It has been a month since the Algerian government suspended the Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighborliness, and Cooperation with Spain. Following its tensions with Algeria, Spain orders the implementation of a measure against goods ready to be sent to Algeria. This is what the Arabic-speaking generalist daily Echorouk reports.

In detail, the Spanish Chamber of Commerce has implemented protocols preventing the export of goods en route to Algeria. Something it did in cooperation with the customs services and all Spanish economic operators. Said measure consists in subjecting all cargo to Algeria to customs procedures.

It intervenes on the fringes of a context marked by an open diplomatic conflict between Algeria and Spain. As a result, the government of Pedro Sánchez terminated the agreements concluded previously. Thus, the transfer of goods from Spanish ports to Algeria will lose its advantages. And this, during the passage of goods en route to our country.

Indeed, following the suspension of trade between the two countries, Spain, for its part, took other measures against Algeria. These relate to goods leaving the Spanish port in the direction of Algeria. A customs declaration document will be obligatorily presented on instruction from the Chamber of Commerce of Alicante. And that, before leaving Spanish territory.

This measure taken by the government of Pedro Sánchez concerns goods manufactured in Spain and those imported from other countries. In addition to parcels transferred by international courier. Those intended for export to Algeria.

However, this situation places a good number of Algerian economic operators in a delicate position. This is due to the lack of authorization to leave their goods transiting through Spain.
