The Foreign Affairs Committee of the Spanish Senate rejected a proposal presented by the far-right ‘Vox’ party, in which it called on the government to take measures to control irregular immigration, in particular by asking the European Union to impose sanctions on Algeria, Morocco, and Mauritania.

The party demanded that Algeria, Morocco, and Mauritania be denied visas, or that the French policy of reducing visas for North African citizens be implemented.

Considering that Spain is invaded by immigrants, which obliges it to resort to various measures to defend its territorial integrity and its identity, this ultranationalist party has submitted to the Spanish Senate a proposal for a draft resolution from the angle of national security.

The draft resolution, according to the document submitted verbatim, includes “the banning of visas for the citizens of Algeria, Morocco and Mauritania until these countries agree to receive illegal immigrants who have violated the borders from Spain “. The party took inspiration from this measure of French policy, which tried to reduce the visa requirement for Moroccan, Algerian and Tunisian citizens until their governments accepted the reception of irregular immigrants.

In addition, the draft resolution planned “to demand that European institutions impose economic sanctions on Morocco, Algeria, and Mauritania”, as well as “to denounce before international organizations what the countries of North Africa make Spain suffer by not controlling irregular traffic”.

Vox describes the arrival of the migrants as planned aggression against Spain.

The party’s deputies in the Senate pointed out that Algeria and Morocco “have historically used migratory flows as a geopolitical weapon, easing or pressuring controls when it was in their interest to weaken the position of negotiation, both by Spain and by the European Union, in the face of their demands. »

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee witnessed a heated debate, with parties refusing or expressing reservations about the draft resolution submitted by Fox.

The radical left party Kompromis considered this proposal as a provocation because it attacks the refugees.

The representative of the ruling Socialist Party was harsh in his intervention against the Vox party, believing that such initiatives in Parliament aim to criminalize and stigmatize immigrants and foreigners with unacceptable qualities, especially when the Vox party has made the link between immigration and terrorism.

The party’s representative on the Foreign Affairs Committee cited the poverty and deprivation plaguing the Sahel region due to various factors, including drought, and thus young people are fleeing in search of broader horizons through l ‘immigration.

The opposition People’s Party, however, took a different stance, rejecting the proposal but blaming the current government of Pedro Sanchez for causing this situation by not dealing strictly with immigration and showing leniency towards irregular immigration.

He ruled out accepting such a proposal because it would put Spain in a confrontation with its southern neighbors Algeria, Morocco, and Mauritania, especially at a time when Spain needs energy, in reference to importing gas from Algeria.

The ultra-nationalist Vox party has become the third political force in Spain, although its foundation dates back only a few years.

He uses issues such as immigration and Spain’s Christian identity to elicit sympathy from domestic audiences.
