Spain: The Spanish Foreign Minister, Jose Manuel Albars, denied the existence of any mediation for his country to resolve the diplomatic crisis between Algeria and Morocco.

Albars said Madrid sees Algeria and Rabat as key partners in the region and cannot interfere in the decisions of sovereign countries.

In a lengthy interview with the Spanish newspaper El Diario, Albars refused to consider the Hispano-Algerian rapprochement as a reason not to send the Moroccan ambassador back to Madrid, saying that the decisions relating to the appointment and expulsion of the ambassadors are “sovereign of all” country.

Algeria severed diplomatic ties with Morocco in late August, accusing Rabat of hostile behavior, before closing airspace to Moroccan military and civilian planes and cutting off gas supplies.
