Algeria Spain: Three months after Algeria stopped supplying gas to Spain via the gas pipeline crossing Moroccan territory, discussions return to the extent to which Algeria has succeeded in ensuring the supply of the contractual quantities to the customer Spanish via the “Medgaz” gas pipeline.

In this regard, Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares affirmed that the supply of Algerian gas to Spain is fully guaranteed.

Albares pointed out, in a statement to a Spanish newspaper, quoted by Aswat Magharebia, that Spanish gas companies have confirmed that Algerian supplies are guaranteed.

Several parties have tried to promote Algeria’s inability to guarantee gas supplies after the abandonment of the gas pipeline through Morocco.

For his part, the CEO of the national company “Sonatrach”, Taoufik Hakkar, recently confirmed that deliveries of Algerian gas to Spain were not affected after the stoppage of the gas pipeline crossing Moroccan territory.

In an interview with Alger International last December, Hakkar said that Algeria is supplying Spain with the required contractual quantities without recording any shortages or changes.

The spokesman pointed out that the Medgaz gas pipeline, which Algeria has chosen to supply Spain with natural gas, instead of the gas pipeline passing through Moroccan territory, would be sufficient to supply the Spanish State with the quantities of gas contracted. , noting that it is possible to supply the Spanish Partner with other quantities on request, given that Algeria has a gas liquefaction plant and can supply Spain’s orders in one day.

Spanish Environment and Energy Minister Teresa Ribera Rodriguez had earlier confirmed that Algerian authorities had pledged to supply more gas to Spain if it needed it.
