Several announcements were made by the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune during a meeting with representatives of the national press which will be broadcast this Saturday evening by the public media.

Several issues related to the social and political situation in Algeria were raised by the Head of State who also made some announcements.

Regarding the shortages and tensions affecting several basic necessities, Abdelmadjid Tebboune expressed his incomprehension and revealed that the services of the Presidency of the Republic are investigating.

“The presidency is in the process of investigating the reason for these shortages”, indicated the President of the Republic, for whom these shortages “should not exist”, because the country has the financial resources and imports the products.

Abdelmadjid Tebboune excluded that this situation is the result of a problem of concordance between all the existing structures. “Each has her job, it has absolutely nothing to do,” he said.

In terms of malfunctions, the Head of State cited that of flour mills. Only one wilaya, he said, received quantities of cereals equivalent to “40 quintals per inhabitant per month”.

“40 quintals per inhabitant”

“We discovered nearly 160 flour mills that do not process the wheat they take but sell it directly to breeders, etc. “, he denounced, recalling in passing the last decision he took to ban the export of food products made from imported materials.

Still concerning the social situation, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune announced the revaluation of wages and unemployment benefits at the end of the current year.

“I reassure the workers that by the end of the year – we are awaiting the final results of our receipts – there will be an increase in unemployment benefit and wages, to be effective in January (2023 ),” he said.

The Head of State also announced a ministerial reshuffle without however specifying the date or extent. “It will be based on the results of each sector. The criterion will be what has been decided in the Council of Ministers, what has been applied, and what has not been,” he explained.
