Rabat – Irish low-cost airline Ryanair will launch 13 new airlines connecting four Moroccan airports with European ones, said Eddie Wilson, Ryanair’s Human Resources Director during a press conference held Thursday in Marrakech.
The launch, a part of the Ryanair’s winter program, will connect flights from Marrakech to Budapest (Hungary), Cologne (Germany), Nîmes (France), Krakow (Poland), Santander (Spain), Perpignan (France) and Venice (Italy).
The company will also schedule flights twice a week from Fez to Bremen and Munich in Germany and Seville in Spain
Two new flights will be launched from Nador to Düsseldorf in Germany and two other weekly available flights from Rabat and Tangier airports to Eindhoven in the Netherlands.
Ryanair will also increase the number of additional flights in existing routes from Agadir to Brussels and Paris, and from Marrakech to Eindhoven and Marseille.
Wilson said that this increase of flights between Morocco and Europe will help revive the tourism sector.
The press conference was attended by Moroccan officials from the National Airports Authority (ONDA) and the National Tourist Office (ONMT).
Ryanair’s recent budget revealed that these new flights are expected to carry over 2.3 million customers annually.
Earlier this week, Ryanair released its February traffic statistics, which showed an increase by 10% to 8.2m customers. Rolling annual traffic in February increased by 14% to 119.1m customers.
Ryanair noted that the traffic in February grew by 800,000 passengers compared to the same period in 2016.
