The Russian federal veterinary and plant health service has banned the importation of poultry products, live birds and eggs from Algeria due to the detection of highly pathogenic avian influenza cases.

Indeed, according to the “sputnik” press agency, the federal service indicated that “after the spread and deterioration of the epidemiological situation in Algeria due to the highly contagious avian flu virus, temporary restrictions have since been imposed. on March 2, 2021, the following products are imported to Russia from Algeria ”.

The agency said the procedure was decided following a report by the World Organization for Animal Health (Goose) on the spread of a very dangerous h5n8 avian flu disease in Algeria.
