The Algerian Consulate in Lyon has announced for all Algerian nationals who are part of its consular district that the state covers the costs of repatriating the remains of Algerians who died in France.

Indeed, on Thursday, November 05, 2020, the Algerian consulate in Lyon published a press release concerning the repatriation of Algerians who died in France. According to the latter, the management of the remains will be done by the Algerian government for families who do not have the means to cover the costs.

In this press release, we can read that he declares to all Algerian nationals established in his consular district that the repatriation costs of the mortal remains of Algerian nationals who died abroad are; under conditions, of course, covered by the Algerian government. 

He also explains that the Algerian state has covered them since May 17, 2020, and this in accordance with article 71 of the Complementary Finance Law (LFC) 2020. This announcement is good news for low-income families who wish to repatriate bodies from abroad to Algeria, especially in these times of crisis sanitary.

Conditions for the repatriation of Algerians who died abroad

The statement clarified that: “Also, in the event of death, the families of the “uninsured” deceased who justifies a precarious situation; are invited to contact our services to initiate the procedure. »If an Algerian has died but is not insured and if his family is in a precarious situation, the consulate indicates that the latter will be able to call the consular services in order to start a procedure.

“And for those who have taken out funeral insurance policies in the host country, they are automatically covered by their insurance companies. As for those who have insurance, the statement reveals that they will have to turn to their insurance companies for support.
