PARIS—The French capital’s Bataclan music venue said it will reopen on Nov. 12 with a concert by U.K. rock star Sting almost a year after 90 people were killed at the concert hall by a group of terrorists in a series of attacks that shocked the world.

Sting said on his official website Friday that he will play the concert to pay tribute to the victims. “In doing so we hope to respect the memory as well as the life affirming spirit of those who fell,” he said.

The concert hall has been closed for renovation since the attacks on Nov. 13, 2015. Kalashnikov-wielding terrorists stormed past security and massacred revelers during a concert by U.S. band Eagles of Death Metal. A total of 130 people were killed in a string of coordinated attacks across Paris that night. The venue’s owners had said they were fixing the infrastructure and equipment but would retain the venue’s layout.

The owners had kept the exact date of the reopening secret until now—they only had said Pete Doherty, former co-frontman of The Libertines and Babyshambles, would play on Nov. 16.

The proceeds of the Sting concert will go to charities helping the victims of the terror attacks.
