Egyptian authorities have called on Israel to immediately cease its attacks on Palestinian towns. This exit comes after the death of nine Palestinians killed by Israeli forces. For its part, Morocco remains silent while its king is the chairman of the Al-Quds Committee.

The announcement of the death of nine Palestinians, made by the Palestinian health authorities, goes badly in Egypt. In a press release, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls on the Jewish State to put an end to these actions. Cairo, the mediator between Palestine and Israel, demands “the immediate cessation of these attacks against Palestinian cities”.

“End the repeated attacks on Palestine”

“The ministry condemns, in the strongest terms, the incursion of Israeli forces into the Palestinian camp of Jenin this morning, Thursday,” said Egyptian diplomacy. The Egyptian ministry also demanded to “end the repeated attacks against the Palestinian people and to ensure the protection of civilians”. Egypt warned of the “repercussions of the attacks on security and stability in the occupied Palestinian territories and the region”.

In the document, Egypt “calls on all international parties, as well as the United Nations and its relevant agencies to maintain international peace and security”. The authorities of this North African country also call on them to “assume their responsibilities to defuse the violence in the occupied territories”. For Egyptian diplomacy, “such attacks on the lives and property of Palestinians aggravate the state of congestion and the feeling of injustice among the Palestinian people”.

Morocco’s disturbing silence

Better, says Cairo, “these acts undermine all efforts to relaunch the peace process and implement the two-state solution”. Which process has been interrupted since 2014? Note that the toll of the storming of the Jenin camp by the Palestinian army has risen to 9 dead. This was reported yesterday by the Palestinian Ministry of Health. Among the deceased is an elderly woman. In addition, 20 injured, including 4 seriously, are to be deplored.

If Egypt split a press release, Morocco remained silent on this affair. However, King Mohammed VI is the chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, responsible for defending the rights of the Palestinians. Especially since this is the most important Israeli military operation in the Jenin camp since the second Al-Aqsa Intifada in 2002. It should be noted that since the normalization of its relations with Israel, Morocco has adopted a less firm position on the Palestinian question.
